We were greeted with another fine morning for our club meet.
It was great to see so many people participating in all the different distances and strokes.

A big congratulations to Eleanor Alonso-Love for winning Swimmer of the Week. And Grant, our President, won the Mystery Prize for breaststroke - nice work Grant!

The relay was tight this week with a fine finish by a fine team: Peter Earls, Nicholas Earls, Alfie Jellet, and Andrew Thomas.

This week we would like to give a big Get Well shout out to one of our great members Frank Funibaldi.

Frank is our legend long distance butterfly swimmer and Life member who sets up and packs up the gear every week. So we miss you!
    Always smiling, always swimming.

So from all of us at Ashfield Swimming Club here it is - Get Well Frank!!!!

We had a terrific turn out this week even though the weather was rainy and pretty miserable - especially for our dedicated time keepers who wanted to stay dry!
Ahhh... the joys of standing on blocks in the pouring rain - but we love it!

This week's meet was Junior Members Day and we had some great participation in all distances by our enthusiastic youngsters.

David Collins-White led some fun novelty races and the junior 25m and 30m relays. Tremendous effort by all teams with some excellent cheering by enthusiastic parents in the rain!
Our 20 m winners are Amelia and Isabelle and our  30 m relay winners are Jacob and Callum.

    Well done everyone.

Our Swimmer of the Week is  Talison Law for some great qualifying swims and Charlie Jellet won the mystery prize for freestyle. Congratulations everyone for a great club meet even in the pouring rain.

Hopefully everyone is cooling off in the pool over this week's heatwave!

See you on Saturday rain or sunshine
    Cheers Rachael

  • Week Five - 2015

We were lucky enough to have a glorious spring morning turned on for us at this week's swim club meet.
I think the rainy weather in the previous days kept a few people away but we had the core club whiz through the races at lightening pace with some terrific prompting and encouragement by our stalwart marshal Chris Gray.

Swimmer of the week is Rachel Austin - congratulations on all your qualifying swims this season!

Callum O'Grady was the mystery prize for butterfly - hopefully you didn't all the chocolates yourself!
The mystery prize is a great way to encourage everyone to have a go at a different stroke in any of the races and then you go into the draw to win

Our infamous relay at the end of the meet was hotly contested with a great field of teams. Great handicapping by Jamie Honan provided an exciting photo finish with the winning team being Daphne Willemsen,
+Laura Willemsen, Willem Willemsen and Ruby McVicar. It's always a great way to end the morning's swim club meet.

    Happy Swimming!
